In addition to the events we hold regularly, there are several other exciting things which may be one-off events, summertime programs, or special games we rotate through over different years. Here's just a sample of some of the special events we've held.
In mid-December, the Pack usually rents an indoor sports field and play kickball, dodge ball, or other such sports. It's a chance for the pack to run around and get loud just before winter break.
Scampering around like a crab, on hands and stocking feet, kicking a 3' ball through goals made from cafeteria chairs. It's as exactly as fun (and chaotic!) as you'd expect.
Just because the Pack slows down over the summer, Scouts don't have to. In addition to the local Summer camps, the pack encourages participation in locally-run scouting events throughout the summer. Scouts who attend one event in each of June, July, and August qualify for the Summertime Activity Award.
Some local summertime events include:
Styrofoam boats. Plastic sails. Race tracks made from raingutters. And sailing wind provided by...Scouts' lungs. Set up on the sidewalk in front of the school, makes for a great way to spend a spring evening.
In addition to traditional Scout campfire programs at campouts, we've tried to have occasional campfires in area parks. These might include skits and songs, talks from invited guests, roasted hot dogs, or all of the above. And of course, marshmallows and s'mores!
We've also had several special guests appear at Pack meetings, including:
and more!
As a pack, or as dens, we've visited many interesting locations in the area:
